Our Philosophy

We believe in knitting our buildings in with the environment, and in creating beautiful, elegant and contextually appropriate designs.

We take inspiration from local architecture and environments, and we build in an ecologically and socially relevant manner.  We carefully select materials to create safe and healthful interiors. Our buildings are well insulated and carefully detailed, engineered, and sited to reduce energy use for the life of the building. We craft our structures with durable materials, emphasizing quality while meeting budget constraints.

We have over 50 years of collective experience in progressive architectural design. Both Mary Kraus and Laura Fitch are LEED™ 2.0 Accredited Professionals, certified by the Green Building Council.

We are nationally recognized for our extensive experience in cohousing, having worked on numerous projects across the country. We are also highly experienced in designing single-family residences, educational facilities, commercial and institutional facilities, historic renovation, and repurposing of old buildings.

We are at the forefront of green and sustainable design, with a focus on zero net energy buildings.
