The Hartsbrook School chose to work with Kraus Fitch Architects for the design of their new early education building in response to community requests for green, local architects. KFA began the process by facilitating community meetings with stakeholders including board members, building committee, staff, teachers, and parents. Completion is expected in December 2013.

The footprint for the building has been carefully sited to create an enclosed play yard for young children, while also defining one end of the older children’s playing fields. The floor plan uses circulation as a buffer to the older grades and situates classrooms to spill out naturally into the playground.
